Activision have decided to shrink down the Black Ops experience for delivery on Nintendo DS.
Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Nintendo DS will feature six-player online multiplayer mode with a new Perks System, as well as a unique two-player Co-Op mode and Arcade and Challenge Modes that allow gamers to replay the single-player missions to earn extra points to unlock additional achievements.
The DS version is being handled by the competent n-Space, who have worked with the hardware extensively over the years. It's surprising though, that Activision haven't opted to wait a bit to push this on 3DS, which seems like a better fit for the first-person handheld experience.

Call of Duty: Black Ops for DS will ship November 9.

I care about the DS, but I rarely play the handheld version of a console game.

DS rocks, but games like this don't do it for me on the ds.

DS games designed for the DS are great and tend to occupy alot of my time on the train every day to work. DS versions of cross platform games generally tend to be pretty half assed and not worth bothering with. I think the only multi platform game I've played all the way through to the end of on the DS was Trackmania and even that was pretty buggy.

hardcore gamer or not, a DS is an awesome thing to have during those long boring commutes on super fast cityrail trains (spot the sarcasm)

Point being is that as usual, co-op games currently require every player to purchase a version of the game each... add that up, and it sucs. Kids cant afford to play together anymore.
