THQ have announced that the previously console-only action title Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, currently in the works at Relic Entertainment (Company of Heroes, Dawn of War), will now also be shipping on Windows PC, in addition to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Combining intense melee and ranged combat, Space Marine puts players into the boots of one of humanity's elite soldiers, genetically engineered and equipped with state of the art weapons and armor. Players are dropped right into the action as they battle to defend an Imperial Forge World, from an invasion by the savage and brutal Orks, using the most devastating weaponry mankind has at its disposal.

Jonathan Dowdeswell, General Manager of Relic Entertainment commented: "The loyal PC audience is incredibly important to us here at Relic so we are delighted to be able to announce the PC version of the game."

Travis Plane, Vice President of Global Brand Management commented: "Delivering great content the fans want to play is the key goal in the core games division at THQ so we are pulling out all of the stops to make this the best possible game for PC and console audiences alike."
The press release doesn't mention any disparity between the different platform's release dates, so at this stage based on THQ's recent multi-platform launches, we can probably assume a simultaneous release for both console and PC in "early 2011".

I actually hope this game has no multiplayer so I'm not let down by yet another poorly implemented console port.

From my impressions when it first was getting marketed, looked like a 40k version of Gears of War. At the time, it actually looked good.

That was a few years ago. I'm not so impressed by the graphics/gameplay anymore.

Kudos to them for porting it to the PC though? If only more were interested in doing the same thing.

I think its completely changed since that video that was doing the rounds a few years ago, because it was being made by THQ in brisbane at that time and its since been taken off them and given to Relic and completely overhauled. They've been really scarce on the details for it, all they've released is that short trailer at E3 last year, and then the trailer at E3 this year, which just looked to be a recut of the trailer from last year.

Still hoping that the MMO of 40k comes out and isn't s*** like the 'other' Warhammer MMO cranking around. That s*** lasted a week on this drive...
