"Meta-narrative surrealist boomer shooter" is a game description we've not come across before, and we've been at this caper awhile. So our interest in this so-called meta-narrative surrealist experience was piqued, and upon first glance, Ghostware: Arena of the Dead is nothing if not unique.

No one told Molly that gamers don’t die, they respawn. Guide the recently deceased heroine on a strange journey after she awakens in a long-abandoned video game. Trapped alongside other misfits by a mysterious mastermind known as the Wizard, Molly must battle in old-school arena shooter-inspired matches to stay alive and uncover the truth about her strange surroundings. Compete in capture the flag, team deathmatches, and more while exploring stages for glitches and data peeling back layers of reality.

The game officially enters into Steam Early Access from April 13 (for Aussies) and you can Wishlist it now to get an update on its arrival on the platform.
